I have never understood why people say "zions" national park with an s as if it was plural or possessive. Maybe everyone thinks that it is pronounced the same as the bank. Maybe they feel that if they don't say national park then they have to insert an s. I just don't know how it happens. Whatever the reason, it bothers me every time I hear someone say it. I hear it quite often too seeing as I live so close. Just so everyone knows, it is pronounced "Zion" without an s. This probably comes off as a very know-it-all kind of statement but I feel this situation warrants an appeal to the masses...well at least to the three people who may venture onto my blog. Let us spread this information far and wide and make a positive change occur in our society. Stop the madness! Ok, I know it's not that big of a deal but these thoughts just came to me and I thought I would give everyone the opportunity of venturing into my head for a moment. Thanks for coming! You're welcome back anytime.

Fall Semester in Brief

It has been a very busy semester as some might notice with the lack of blog posts. Parties, homework, school activities, and much more are just memories now of Fall semester 2009. Being a part of student government has kept me quite busy and has kept me learning new things every day. I've made wonderful new friends and I have come to realize strengths and weaknesses that I have. It has been a great experience. Presidential ambassadors and the student action committee demand a lot of my time but I student government has been the focal point of my involvement during this semester and I believe it will continue to be that way in the future. It has been fun. Classes were good and I pulled decent grades from them all. I ended with a 3.8 which is alright I guess. I am attempting to get straight A's throughout the remainder of my time at SUU to better my chances of getting into a good law school so the A- grades make me wince just a bit. GPA and LSAT scores are everything in law school applications. This semester my classes will be a little less demanding but my hard core LSAT studying begins! Wish me luck!

So it has been a while since I have updated this wonderful blog. Much has happened. It has been a very busy semester full of research papers, tests, fun, and adventures. However, I do feel I need to pay tribute to a special woman who is partially responsible for the good life that I have been blessed with. My great grandmother Berniece Nelson passed away on the 13th of November. I can't help but feel grateful for the principles that she taught her three children, one of which, is my grandfather Gary Nelson. She was a wonderful example of someone who lived the gospel to the fullest. Her and my great grandfather Ivan shared a wonderful marriage full of love and service both to one another and everyone that came into their lives. I still remember the fourth of July family gatherings at Washington park up Parley's Canyon. The watermelon they always brought, the fudge she made at Christmas time, the pickles she. . .well. . .pickled. She was a wonderful woman and will be missed dearly.
